| Project Description: Bartlett Nuclear, Inc. (BNI) provides a comprehensive package of facilities maintenance services and support, including supervisory and technical staff, for related work evolutions under this multi-year contract at Duke Energy’s corporate and all three nuclear facilities. BNI provides both outage and non-outage (i.e., normal operations) coverage. BNI Support includes:
To date, BNI provided a total of 4,394 personnel who worked 9,641,706 safe person-hours and covered approximately 2,613,000 ft2 of facility maintenance services under this multi-site contract. | - ALARA & radiation protection reviews of outage work scope, work packages, work planning processes and outage schedules
- RWP development and risk analysis and planning, including orientation and training of contract craft workers (both in classroom and simulated/mockup facilities)
- Provided equipment, dosimetry and supervision & job coverage
- Planning & oversight of work evolutions, ensuring minimal radiological exposure, waste and contamination throughout the steam generator removal, transport & replacement
- Supported the utility Auxiliary Building, Fuel Building, RCB Refuel Floor and Reactor Cavity
- Coordinated utility/client relations (i.e., interpreting site culture) for recognized seamless contract control and interaction

- Implementation of our career development program has allowed janitorial personnel the ability to become fully-qualified health physics technicians, available through cross-training to support specific system outages and fill emergent needs, resulting in cost and resource savings to Duke Energy.
