Workforce Development & Cross Training

Our “workforce development” approach involves cross-training radiation safety and maintenance personnel to develop a pipeline of trained technicians. This approach focuses on improving facilities maintenance programs by reducing operating costs, increasing efficiency and improving quality of work.

Personnel are also cross-trained to higher classifications as part of a career advancement program. Workers can cross over to assist the higher classification and return to their previous position until they are permanently advanced. In addition, workers often return back to their previous classification to assist during heavy workloads or during emergent situations. Workers receive qualifications for the next skill set through hands on training and on the job training (OJT).

Offering a career path to employees improves work performance and overall motivation. This, in turn, reduces turnover and creates a pool of local personnel available for numerous job functions. Cross-trained personnel can perform varying job functions as necessary, such as times of emergent needs, high volume, etc.
